A bulletin board system for a company that existed mostly in my head. MegaTech's Arabian Nights V 1.0 Corporate Office System, as its own first bulletin announces, answered the phone and offered a login, a menu, a help page, bulletins, a password-protected corporate database with search and view, e-mail between users, and a switch that handed the whole session to the SYSOP's console and back. It is a few hundred lines of BASIC talking to a COM port, and that was enough.
The recording is the caller's side of the line. A caller runs my copy of Telix and dials the server by hand. On a second machine the server runs the BBS on COM1, and the two are joined by a null-modem cable, so what the caller sees is exactly what the program sent down the wire.
Reading the demonstration
The recording follows a Telix caller through login, menus, and the database. A second computer runs the BBS; a null-modem cable joins them.
