Architecture
The same system as the cube in a flat case at about half the price, which is what put NeXTSTEP on university desks in any number. Two bits per pixel of grey is an odd specification until you see it: the display was calibrated so that the greys matched what a PostScript printer would produce, and the screen and the page were driven by the same imaging model.
